HCS Health Fair Provides Free Health Screenings For Seniors

On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, more than 1,000 seniors from throughout Brooklyn attended HCS's 21st Annual Senior Health Fair at the grounds of Homecrest Presbyterian Church. The health fair was free to the public and was tailored to provide health related resources, screenings and health educational information for seniors.
This all day event flowed with seniors throughout the day. There were over 40 booths with several health screenings booths including screenings for blood pressure, body mass index, pulse oximetry, Hepatitis B & C as well as a Patient Health Questionnaire to gauge depression among older adult. Licensed pharmacists were also on site to provide free flu shots.
Participants also got to attend health workshops including one on "How to Reduce Stress" presented by Ohel Bais Ezra and another on "Hepatitis B Awareness" presented by Christina Zheng at NYU Langone Medical Center.
HCS music choir opened the ceremony and elected officials and special guests were invited for a special ribbon cutting. Thank you to Assemblyman Cymbrowitz, Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein, Assemblyman Abbate, Assemblyman Colton, 47th Assembly District Leader Nancy Tong, City Council member Treyger's representative, Angel Fung, Brooklyn Community Board Chair person, Teresa Scavo ,NYC Comptroller representative, Ari Kagan and Brooklyn DA's Bureau Chief, Kin Ng for attending the event.
Awards were presented to HCS' 2017 men and women Ping Pong and Mah Jong champions. A special recognition was presented to Julisa Chin, upon her retirement. HCS thanked her for her unwavering dedication and hard work caring for our seniors.
